Harold Findlay – Findlay Hats
Harold Findlay

Findlay was named after my Grandpa, Harold Findlay. He passed away shortly before the brand launched, but his name lives on in this company. He was a huge influence on me growing up, and his involvement in World War II was always something that interested & inspired me.

For my Boy Scout Eagle Project, I chose to get involved with the Veterans History Project for the Library of Congress and interview 15 World War II Veterans about their experience in The War.

This experience was hugely influential on my life in a number of ways. I learned about video production, interview skills & most importantly, got a chance to document & record these amazing stories from veterans about their military experience. These stories are used by historians, scholars & students alike to learn about the individual experience during American wars & conflicts.

The stories varied in detail, length and epic-ness, but in the end of the day, I am grateful I got to record these stories, as many of them had never been recorded, and a lot of these men & women are no longer around to share their stories.

After I finished the project, my dad, grandpa & myself flew to Washington DC to hand-deliver these. For some reason, I can't find any photos of us on this trip, but I did snag some photos of my grandpa & The WWII Memorial.
